Grandma's Poem for Jacob

A year ago, our lives were changed, from dark to light and joy.

All by the birth of one small child, our loving little boy.

You brought such joy, and love and light; you made our world complete

Such love profound and beautiful; so tender, and so sweet.

Your smile lit up our lives each day as you played and laughed and ran,

And now our hearts are empty and we miss you little man.

We still can feel your kisses, and the softness of your skin,

and hear you saying mama as you smiled your toothless grin.

We still can hear your laughter as you raced around the room,

And see you softly sleeping as angels tucked you in.

We miss you darling Jacob, and can’t begin to understand,

Why God would call you home so soon, oh precious little man.

Our arms still long to hold you, our hearts can’t bear the pain

And yet we know that one day soon, we’ll hold you once again.

Until that day sweet Jacob, the essence of your light,

Will warm the coldest moment and cover us at night.

Your love will give us strength dear son; your life will give us hope,

When grief begins to swallow us, your light will help us cope.

Your life is such a treasure we’ll cherish till we die

And join you in our heavenly home, just beyond the sky.

And there our darling Jacob, you and daddy and me

Will romp and play in Heaven for all eternity.

As you gaze upon the angels and sit at Jesus’ feet,

Know we’ll still be loving you until the day we meet.

And though we miss you Jacob, we’ll never be apart,

You’re in our every memory and buried in our hearts.

With all our love,

Mommy and Daddy

God's Love

Many things that come our way are hard to understand.
The only simple answer is God has a wondrous plan.
He lived before the earth was formed, He’ll live when it is gone;
and though it may not make much sense, God’s plan is never wrong.

He formed us from the dust of earth, and filled our lungs with breath;
created in His image, and spared eternal death.
He loved us from the very day; He sent our souls to earth,
rejoicing in the magic of our simple earthly birth.

He loves us as we walk through life and shares our every fear.
He loves us in adversity and wipes away our tears.
He smiles when the morning sun renews our soul with hope,
and graces us with mercy and give us strength to cope.

We wonder why some are spared, much tragedy and pain,
While others bear so much and still praise His Holy name.
The crosses that they carry, the heavy price they pay,
are reminders of the cross He bore on Calvary that day,

We stand beside a casket, our pain too deep to speak,
and softly bow before our Lord, the Comforter we seek.
As grief and disappointment consume our very soul,
the world seems to tumble as it spins out of control.

The shock engulfs our hearts and minds, too harsh to be absorbed,
yet know our only lifeline is held tightly by our Lord.
We simply cannot comprehend, the trials that we face;
so He steps in to hold us up with loving, healing grace.

His promises though yet unseen are there for us to read,
He’ll manage every heartache and provide our every need.
He’ll lift us when we stumble; He’ll catch us when we fall,
and shower us with mercy and see us through it all.

Until the day He calls us and claims us as His own,
to share a grand reunion in our precious heavenly home.
He’ll wipe each tear we cried away and fill our hearts with glee,
and shower us with love and peace for all eternity.

Each loved one that we cherished, each precious life we mourn,
iss waiting just beyond the sky where Gabriel blows his horn,
announcing each arrival as their loved ones gather near
and Jesus gently smiles and says, “Come - they’re waiting here”.

He places every baby back in its mother’s arms,
and smiles cause He knows at last, we’re safe from every harm.
Our parents and our sisters, our friends and brothers too,
are gathered there on Heaven’s shores as life begins anew.

A land of no more suffering, or loss, or grief or fear,
A home that’s free of sadness, a home that’s free of tears.
A seat beside still waters, and Heaven’s very best.
the Heaven that we long for provides eternal rest.

With love to Jacob
